It is not uncommon for pets become part of the family. When you adopt a dog, you name it, care for it, and teach it. The last thing you want is for your dog or cat to get sick. Cancer is becoming more frequent in dogs with one in four dogs developing cancer. Most dogs over the age of 10 will develop cancer Here are some ways to prevent that from happening in your own dog.
First, spay and neuter your dog. Not only will it keep your dog family small, but it can help prevent them from developing cancer. Female dogs are at a lower risk to develop mammary tumors than those who are not spayed. Male dogs also have a small risk of developing testicular cancer if they are neutered.
Second, think twice before getting your dog vaccinated. Just like there are vaccinations for your children, there are also vaccinations for your dogs. You have the option to get your dog vaccinated. If a dog gets too many vaccinations, their immune systems are suppressed and they are more likely to get sick more.
Third, think about what you are feeding your dog. Do not give your dog chocolate. Cancer usually occurs because the dog was exposed to a variety and quantity of toxins. When you are deciding on the best dog food for your pup, make sure you do some research to determine what ingredients is in the food. You can also make your own dog food by using either raw or cooked dog food diets. Remember to include whole meat, vegetables, fruit, grains, and much more in your dog’s diet. This step requires some additional research. You can even add vitamins and supplements to your dog’s diet if you desire in order to help them remain happy and healthy.
